Our Organization:

A Home for Every Heart

Mother Teresa, the Nobel Peace Prize winner, who has worked among the starving and homeless persons of India has said, "It is terrible to die from starvation, but worse is the hunger to be somebody... When a person feels unwanted and uncared for, a terrible bitterness comes in and closes the heart to anybody and anything. This is the greatest homelessness – to be unwanted and unloved."

When children are hurt or neglected, whether emotionally or physically, their hearts become closed and calloused. The bitterness that remains can bring even more harm to their lives and the lives of others. They become persons whose hearts have no home.

But the hearts of children can find a home. This is the work of the Child Abuse Prevention Association. We build homes for the heart.

Building homes for the heart must start with families. Families are where we begin. Families teach us our first lessons about ourselves and others. Families shape how we see and act in the world. Families create the future.

But we must also understand what it is to be a "family" in a broader sense. We must begin to see that a child born to one family is truly born to all. We are all members of a larger family-the family of humankind. What affects the future of one, affects the future of all.

Together we hold the future in our hearts and hands. We can choose to lend our hands to building homes in which the hearts of children can thrive.

CAPA has joined children and families to build homes for the heart. We build only the best. These are not ordinary homes; they are shelters protecting the hearts of children. These hearts that are tender, new and full of possibilities. In creating homes for the hearts of children, we create hope for us all. CAPA believes that every heart should have a home. Help create a Home for Every Heart.
